Easter Entertaining Tips

The long Easter weekend is here and by some miracle, the weather looks set to be a scorcher! Easter marks the perfect time to refresh your home space. The long weekend makes for a great excuse to entertain. It’s the time to make your dining table the showstopper. Whether it’s a lunch or a dinner, we’ve come up with some hints and tips on how to make your dining table look the part.

Reclaimed Rustic Elm Dining Table

1. Decide on a theme

By a theme, we don’t mean to go full on chicks and eggs (unless that really floats your boat) but be consistent with your decor. Easter is perfectly suited to pastel decor – tableware and table linens are a great way to integrate this to your dining table but rustic furniture and vintage accessories are a great way to make your room look seasonal.

2. Fill up ALL the vases

Easter was made for florals and with spring in our midst, it’s easy to get your hands on some beautiful ones. Pull out all your vases and fill them up with simple tulips or daffodils – these don’t have to be expensive but can create real impact to your room.

If you want to keep your rustic dining table, well, rustic then stick to flower heads displayed in vintage glass pharmacy bottles dotted along the centre line of the table. For something more striking, present spring bulbs in clear glass jars with only the roots immersed in water. If you’re partial to some arts and crafts, decorate some eggs with the colours of your theme and stack them up in big glass jars. Keep the look fresh and clean as an ode to ‘spring cleaning’ with a bright white cotton or linen tablecloth or runner. You can arrange pieces of vintage china, prints and ornaments featuring flora and fauna for a Spring display.

Decorative Blown Ostrich Egg

3. Eggs maketh Easter

Ok, ok. It’s an obvious one. But Easter was made for eggs. There are some incredible vintage eggs you can use to fill baskets or glass bell jars but you can do this with ordinary ones too! And they look EGGCELLENT (sorry…we had to!).

Most importantly, have fun! Easter weekend is all about friends and family. Spend time with them, enjoy your space and create some memories! We’d love to see what you do with your home space!
